| Robert is not only a cool and interesting guy; he is also a passionate and skilled business mentor who has led the way in BioGro and Organic Business Sustainability in NZ. We've decided to give you access to his busy and creative mind!!! You send us a question and one of the newsletter team will pin him down and ask it! This month's question was sent in by Na and we loved it cos it's all about human sustainability.
Q: “I've owned a business and it's incredibly time demanding. How do you manage your work/life balance?”
Robert: I have owned a business now for 14 years and work/life balance is crucial. There are several things I do to keep that harmony going. For Tania and I, feeding and nurturing our many animals together is a great to start to every day - some healthy exercise and teamwork and, this time of year, the cold wet days are just an extra challenge! Another thing I do is try not to talk too much ‘shop’ when I get home (often late) and I reserve weekends mostly for 'farmie' work, all organised around my son William's football games of course. But for the real grounding, I think it's important to have things you do, specifically for yourself, that nourish you. I love time in my shed wood-turning and creating, or, with my fabulous family around, I enjoy singing songs with various instruments, and they tolerate it, mostly!

| How do you look after yourself? Sustainability is not just for the environment it's for you as well. Sometimes we get bogged down in the busy rush of our lives and eating organic helps to maximise the value of our food. Most of our products use organic ingredients which are higher in mineral and vitamin content and won't contaminate your body with chemical residues!
Have you heard of 11 year old Birke Baehr? This is an inspiring young guy who's changing the world one kale chip at a time. 'Choose organic' he says and in only a few short minutes he tells us why! www.tedxnextgenerationasheville.com
Winter is often a time when those bugs seem out to get you and one of the things we all try and do is eat well to shore up our immune systems. Make a great start to a healthy day with our daily bread and try this Bug Buster Tonic first thing in the morning! You can add hot water and honey, or do it the Purebread way and take it in shots!! In a cup put the juice of one lemon, 1T of olive oil and a pinch of cayenne pepper. Knock it back and let it work its magic.

| Good News for Coeliacs
Did you know that Purebread is all shook up? We recently received a great email from a customer whose entire family are coeliacs asking us if we'd ever consider fermenting as their family cannot eat any grains unless they have been through this process? According to Nourished magazine grains should be thoroughly prepared in order to enhance absorption of important minerals.
“...all grains must be properly soaked, sprouted or leavened with sour dough, to make them fit for anyone to eat...”
Well, guess what? We already ferment our grains or use sour dough wherever possible. Purebread loves your body and we do whatever we can to enhance wellness and nourishment!!

| Immunity Boosting Recipe!
Winter is the Season of Soups. Everyone of you, no doubt, has an awesome soup recipe that you like to stir up in the cold season so this month we thought we'd add one too.
This simple treat comes from the Tapioca table and it's fondly called Sunshine Soup - to brighten any wintry day.
Sunshine Soup
1kg Carrots 4 cups water or vege stock 2 onions chopped 1 T Olive oil 2 cloves garlic (more if you're adventurous!!) 2T freshly grated ginger (minimum!) Sea salt or kelp to taste ¼ t each of your fav warming spices like cumin, cinnamon and ground fennel Your favourite Purebread to toast and dip!
Saute onions in oil till just limp, add ginger, garlic and spices. Pop in your chopped carrots until they start to soften then add water or vege stock. You can blend it all in a food processor or go for a chunky style by using a masher. Add some cashew nuts lightly roasted to the blending if you want to thicken it and give it a nutty flavour. Mmmmm...Nothing like a slice or two of Young Buck, straight from the toaster to dip into steaming soup!
