Broken Biscuit Base for Cheesecakes

1Crush the biscuits (putting them in a closed plastic bag and attacking with a rolling pin is the easiest and most satisfying approach) and place in a medium sized bowl. Add melted butter and spice, and mix thoroughly.(Yes, it is OK to use your hands for this!)
2Press the mix very firmly into the base of a preferably springform or other loose-based 23cm diameter pan.It helps to press this down thoroughly with the back of a spoon.
3Chill the mix thoroughly for an hour or so before adding fillings.
