Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream

My neighbour Joy gave me this recipe. It is simple, foolproof, delicious and doesn’t have gritty icy bits in it. What more can one ask??

  • Prep: 15 mins
  • Cook: 8 hrs


1Beat the egg whites and sugar until stiff peaks form.

2Beat cream and vanilla.

3Add cream to egg white mixture and blend gently.

4Ad chopped Flake bars if you wish.

5Place in a container (a recycled commercial icecream container is ideal!) with a lid, and freeze 8 hours minimum before serving.


4 egg whites

½ cup sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

300ml cream

2 crushed Flake bars (optional)
