Vietnamese Chicken

This is a lovely flavour and very quick to make.

  • Cook: 10 mins


1Heat the oil in a wok (preferably) or heavy frying pan, then add onions and stir-fry until golden brown.

2Add chicken and stir-fry until cooked through.

3Scatter garlic and ginger over the meat and cook another 30 seconds.

4Reduce heat to medium, sprinkle over five-spice powder, then add fish and soy sauces and honey.

5Stir-fry another minute or two until chicken is well coated with sauce.

6Serve with steamed rice and vegetables or salad.


2tbsp vegetable oil

1 large onion cut in wedges

500g boneless skinless chicken, cut in 3cm pieces

2 tsp chopped garlic

2 tbsp finely chopped root ginger

1 tsp five-spice powder

2 tbsp fish sauce

2 tbsp gluten-free soy sauce

1 tbsp honey
